Echoes of Excellence: Mr. Richard Raqueño's Teaching Venture
In the small barangay Sinabaan, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur, a torch of knowledge named Mr. Richard Raqueño emerged. Born on January 16, 1972. He is a proud alumnus of Cabittaogan High School, pursued his collegiate dreams at Divine World College of Vigan. His passion for education propelled him further, leading to the attainment of a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education.
He started teaching in the year 1997 in the second district. He rented a dorm for about 15 years. For him, it was a hardship because he missed his family, especially his son, who was small at the time. This was the most difficult part for him. However, he went home sometimes using only a motorcycle. It took him almost an hour to drive home, and he almost experienced nine accidents. For him, that was a challenging experience. After teaching in the second district, he also taught in Burgos. Now, he is teaching at ISNHS. Currently, he's okay because he and his family are together.
As a teacher with several years of experience, Mr. Raqueño adopts a communication style that combines active listening, approachability, and encouragement of open dialogue. His teaching philosophy revolves around handling students with care and respect, balancing firmness with empathy, and creating a positive learning environment.
Despite the challenges that teaching inevitably presents, Mr. Raqueño's commitment remains unwavering. In times of difficulty, he seeks support from colleagues, reflects on his teaching methods, and holds onto the belief in education's transformative power.
Fueling his dedication is the joy derived from witnessing the "aha" moments, those instances when students grasp a concept. His motivation springs from the opportunity to positively impact the lives of the students he teaches.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Raqueño is not just a teacher; he's a creator. His hobbies include developing websites and apps, showcasing a flair for the digital realm. This passion for technology aligns with his commitment to making lessons engaging and relevant, fostering an environment where students become active learners.
In the face of stress and pressure, Mr. Raqueño manages through effective time management, self-care practices, and seeking support from colleagues and mentors. His happiness as a teacher emanates from the fulfillment found in helping students learn and grow, emphasizing that teaching is not just a profession; it's a calling. As Mr. Raqueño continues his journey in education, each day is an opportunity to inspire, empower, and contribute to the growth of the next generation.
